B1BC Mushroom soul: Beginning summer's music under the rain

Beginning summer's music under the rain

mardi 3 juillet 2007

( I just tried to do a comprehensible translation )

It is accustomed to listen a sunny music in summer, a music that makes you want to danse, to have fun or simply to kill the time. here's my little playlist for july's month which look like autumn's months.

D'angelo : Everybody loves the sunshine

Bibi Tanga et le professeur Inlassable : Groovyland
From "Yellow Gauze" (2007)

Count Bass D : Postmeridian, Antemeridian
From dwight spitz (2002)
Long Goodbyes
From Act Your Size (2006)

« Every body loves the sunshine », no originality! A classical which is common and popular in summer, even more when the sun deserted. To continue in the lack of originality, i chose the D'angelo's reprise. It's not new, I love D'angelo, his suave voice, his fingering, the « nu » style and the jazz influence.

Mid-september will release an album named « Yellow Gauze » by Bibi Tanga and le professeur inlassable. Bibi Tanga is the Gréements de fortunes's leader, a french funk formation. It's a funky album with various influences, afro beat, gospel, jazz, and sometimes hip hop (the bibi tanga's flow on "crazy funny" for exemple). I chose one track which is on his myspace, « Goovyland » which can become a single with « Ayo ». A tribute to Cab Calloway and James Brown. A song which defines the album : « Welcome to Groovyland » !

Count Bass D with his nonchalant flow (Drug Abusage) or hum (Down Easy), with his jazzy beat (lunchroom Table Ensemble, 4-28-79) or soul (just say no), hip hop (Dollar Bill) or rnb (Fat Girl), or all in the same time but always with this modernity, amazes me. We never be bored by his songs. Between the instrumentals of some secondes, and the songs of two minutes with one of his homy (Quitte Buttery), his musicals experimentations (Des Fausses Impressions) are always a delight. He navigates between various musics, has fun, mixture between sampling and instruments, and he is not afraid to move away from the shore. It was hard to select some songs ! But i did it : « Postmeridian », because of the rythmic, and those trumpets. « Antermeridian », because can't have one without the other. And i love his flow on this one, he made a dope song !! But they are too brief so i add one, « Long Goodbyes »."
